Spun Head Flies This Saturday
Turk's Tarantula(05-5-2008) Even though the fishing is picking up and the tying is slowing down we are still having a few more classes in our intermediate and Skills Development Tying classes.  Join us this Saturday as we tie up some Spun Head Flies.  These are great patterns to make a lot of racket on the water, if that is what you are after.  The only excuse to not attend is if the fish are bitin'.  See you Saturday.
The Drift is Now Online!
The Drift(04-03-2008) The latest newsletter from FlyMasters, The Drift, is now online.  With lots of information about what is going on here at the shop and fly fishing in general it is well worth the time to read.  Feel free to download it and share with friends.  Also keep an eye out for future newsletter since this will be a regular item at FlyMasters.  You will need the free Adobe Acrobat reader to view the newsletter.
New Staff at FlyMasters
Holly our Greeter(03-19-2008) As many of our customers know we strive to provide an atmosphere of warmth and friendship from the moment you enter our shop.  Friendly smiles and helpful staff go a long way in making our customers feel welcome.

We also have, for may years, had our official greeters in the shop.  Holly and Gracie have been around for years helping us help our customers.  In the past year or so a couple of new additions have been made.  Zoe and Murphy are also around the shop to help in our mission.  You can see them all on our updated Staff page.  Feel free to stop by and say hello and don't forget to scratch behind the ear (the dogs that is)!
Brookville Resource Information
Brown Trout(03-18-2008) The weather is getting warmer and many customers have been coming in the shop asking about the trout fishing in the tailwater of Brookville reservoir.  Even though we have had a lot (a whole lot) of rain lately, soon this little fishery will be hopping.  We just want to remind out customers and visitors that we have a section of our site dedicated to this fishery.  You can access the Brookville Information by following this link or from any page by looking under the Resource section of our menu at the top of each page.  We recently changed the layout of the information to help people get to it a little quicker.  Let us know if there is any additional information you would like to see here.
2008 Dates for Our Fly Fishing School
Sharkskin Ultimate Trout Taper(03-04-2008) We have had many people stop by FlyMasters in the last couple of months interested in leaning how to fly fish. Even though it may seem a bit early, with snow on the ground, we have set some dates for the first phase of our Fly Fishing School. The first phase of our school is in the shop so we do not need to be concerned about the weather. By the time most people can fit in the first meeting for phase II the weather starts to break and sunny warm afternoons can be had at the pond. The following are the list of upcoming dates for Phase I.

May 14th

Phase I of our school is from 7:00 - 9:00 pm on the given dates. You only need to attend ONE Phase I meeting. You do not need to sign up ahead of time, simply show up on the designated date at 7:00pm and you can get started. Please call us on the day of the particular Phase I class you plan on attending, just in case there is a last minute cancellation. If you do not have any equipment at this time, DO NOT purchase any. The instructor can provide everything you need for the first couple of meeting. Once you have had a couple of meeting with the instructor and some hands on time, you can then purchase your own equipment to practice (and fish) with and you will be making a more informed purchase.

Mark your calendar and come on in this spring to learn how to fly fish. In the mean time, if you have any questions call us at 317-570-9811.

Learn to Tie Your Own Flies
MatukaMost fly fisherman and women turn to other pursuits in the winter months.  Even though you can still fish throughout Indiana in the winter it can sometimes get a little too cold for most fishing.  So why not learn to tie your own flies in our Beginning Fly Tying class this winter.  This way you can continue your love of fly fishing but stay nice and cozy indoors.  We have dates for our next class beginning in February and more throughout the year.  This tying class is 5 two hour sessions.  The fee is $50.00 plus materials.

Reservations are required.  Please call us at 317-570-9811 to get started on a lifetime passion!
