Synopsis of Class
|
Spring time brings much spawning activity for many different fish species in Indiana.
The White Bass is among the most active. Indiana is chalked full of reservoirs and most
of them have been stocked with White Bass. Every spring, around mid-April through May,
the White bass run up the feeder creeks and rivers that supply these reservoirs to spawn.
As well, most of the natural streams in Indiana have nice populations of White Bass.
This is an excellent time to catch them. They are actively feeding on minnows and aggressively
take flies. Being strong fighters, if you take out a three or four weight you will be having
fun all day. It is not uncommon for people to have 100+ fish days when fishing the White Bass
runs in the spring. As an added bonus, the Wipers also run up the streams and sometimes you
can hook up with a large hard fighting Wiper.
The flies we will tie are pretty straight forward, however a
new twist will be added when we do the Shenk's White
Streamer. Something worth attending class for!
