Synopsis of Class
|
There are many flies in fly fishing that resemble flying
insects. Many of these patterns have some sort of
material tied in to resemble the wings of the particular
insect they are trying to mimic. For may tiers
creating the wings and tying them in can be a real
challenge. They are often made of various parts of
feathers and can be difficult to master.
However, there is a particular technique for creating these
wings that has gotten a lot of attention over the past few
years. This method involves using special designed
tweezers clamped onto wing material and burning away the
unwanted parts of the material. What is left is a
nicely formed wing that is ready to tie onto the hook.
This class is designed to introduce tiers to this particular
method of creating wings. We will be tying a number of
well known patterns in the class, however the focus of the
class is to learn how to use wing burners to create the
wings for the flies. The burners and material will all
be provided. So stop on by this Saturday and learn a
new tying technique that can make you a fan of winged flies.
