The Rubber Spider
Hook: Mustad #33903 (Kink shank)
Thread: Size 'A' (Color to match the body)
Body: Rubber Spider Body
Legs: White Medium Rubber (other colors may be used)

Tying Instructions
Step 1: Mount the hook in the vise and attach the thread to hook using a jam knot.  Wrap back to second hump.  Apply cement to the thread wraps.
Step 2: Use a razor blade to slit the underside of the body. Be careful not to cut through the body! Place the body on the hook shank so that the humps are inside the slit.   Position the thread at the second hump.  Take two turns of the thread around the body to create two segments.  Half hitch the thread.
Step 3: Take two strands of rubber about 1 1/2 inches long.   Even up the ends and place them on the far side of the hook.   Take two turns of thread around the rubber legs and the body.   Take two more strands of rubber, place them on the near side of the hook and take two turns of thread around the rubber legs and the body.   Half hitch the thread.
Step 4: Back up the thread 1/2 turn. Raise the front end of the body and advance the thread to the hook eye.   Lower the front segment of the body and wrap the thread around the tip.
Step 5: Completely cover the tip with thread.   Whip finish and cement the head. Adjust the leg position if necessary.   Pull all eight legs upright and trim so that all legs are the same length.   Cement the slit on the ender side of the body and the thread where the legs are tied on.

The key to successful fly tying is practice and repetition using
the proper fundamentals and techniques.
