Synopsis of Class
|
Here at the shop we get many request from tiers to show them
how to tie many different types of patterns. One type
of fly that is requested often is the articulated, or
jointed, pattern. There are certain specific
articulated patterns and then there are existing patterns
that are modified to be an articulated style.
Articulated patterns are very productive with fish (and
fisherman) primarily because of the hinged aspect of the fly
and the fact that is has more "life like" action to it.
Articulated patterns are not difficult to tie. Many
are simply an extension of the existing tail of the fly and
others actually employ a trailing hook in the flies
construction.
This class is designed to introduce tiers to this particular
type of fly and tying. We will be tying some
productive patterns by themselves however, by applying the
methods used to tie these flies you can make articulated
flies out of many of the existing patterns you already tie.
Tiers will also be learning about an articulated fly system
that allows you to interchange many of the heads and tails
of different flies in order to best suit your current
fishing conditions.
The flies you will tie are,

Articulated Wooly Bugger
|

Articulated Sculpin

Enrico's Flex Popper

the Wiggle Critter head (pictured to the left).

for this fly. |
