Advanced Fly Tying Class
Class: Flies for Ascension Bay (Bonefish and Permit)
Date/Time: January 13th, 2007, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Maximum Size: 6
Instructor: Ian Anderson
Cost: $10.00
Synopsis of Class
For the past eleven years we have been sending people down south to Ascension Bay for six days of bonefish, permit and snook fishing (with an occasional tarpon).  These trips run every week from the last week in January to the first week of March.  Like most things, there are always new flies every year that are the best fly in the world.  However, there are also certain patterns that end up being the "go to" pattern when the "best fly in the world" in not working so good.  This class in our Advanced tying series is aimed at showing people how to tie these tried and true patterns.

If you are lucky enough to be heading south this winter to Mexico (or even Florida) to do some fishing the majority of the fishing will be for bonefish and permit.  So, this class will focus on standard patterns that will work well for these fish in and around Ascension Bay (as well as the Bahamas and the Florida Keys).  The following are the flies you will tie.

Pink Puff (Mini Puff)

McVay's Gotcha

Greg's Flats Fly (Meheve's)

Merkin Crab

Crazy Charlie
