Synopsis of Class
|
The common carp is a much maligned fish here in North
America. Considered by most in Europe as a prize game
fish, fly fishing for carp is big sport over seas.
Slowly, folks on this side of the pond are discovering just
how much fun carp on a fly are. Whether you are
fishing for carp in your favorite stream, lake or reservoir,
there are certain flies which are great producers. The
key is presentation and not spooking these wary fish.
Often referred to as the "Golden Bones" because they are
found in shallow water and just as difficult to catch as
saltwater bonefish. Carp love to feed on crawdads,
nymphs, worms, salamanders and small fish; they are not the
trash eaters many people think they are. In this class
we will be tying up three different patterns that are good
carp producers. As an added bonus they do not do to
bad at catching smallmouth as well (often found in the same
water as carp).
