Synopsis of Class
|
Everyone loves to fish poppers for bass and panfish.
There is something very satisfying about watching the fish
come to the surface to take your fly. Not to mention
the constant motion and action imparted on the fly.
These things make popper fishing one of the most popular
forms of fly fishing.
Many of the tiers we talk with are very interested in
learning to tie their own popper flies. The painted popper
is the most popular form of popper fly and the one that most
people have a tough time doing on their own. You can
paint the body a solid color if you want but most of us want
to have something with a few colors and patterns on them.
Painting them is the easy part, getting them to look good is
the hard part. However, short of taking some art
classes, there are a few techniques that can be used to help
your painted poppers look better.
This class is part of our on going skills development
classes and as such will not focus on various patterns to
tie as much as a specific technique. We will be
working all stages of making a popper but the main focus
will be on painting and finishing the head. So be
prepared to setup and paint multiple popper heads.
