Synopsis of Class
|
This is the last in our series of Fall Steelhead classes.
So far we have had three classes;
Egg patterns,
Nymph patterns
and Streamer
patterns. We now move on to steelhead
tube flies. Tube flies have been around for a long
time, especially out west, but are gaining more and more
interest here in the Midwest. The purpose of this
class is to show that many of the traditional flies we tie
on hooks can also be tied on tubes. There are two
flies from previous classes that we will be adapting to the
tube fly technique. The Green Butt Skunk which was
tied in our streamer class and the Babine special which was
tied in our Egg class. Both are steelhead staples and
a must to have in your fly box. The other two patterns
are simple ties that can be varied a little with material
and color to provide an endless array of flies.
Through out the class we will be discussing
different ways to fish these flies as well as the advantages
of tube flies over traditional flies tied on hooks. If you want to have
some serious fun on your next steelhead outing, learn to tie
up some of these streamers.
