Synopsis of Class
|
Most people who have been fly fishing for trout for a while
already know that small flies can produce some big fish.
Midge flies are some of the most productive small trout
flies around. Midge flies are active year 'round and
often in the cold day of winter can be seen hatching during
short periods of sunshine.
Tying midge flies is not that difficult
with the exception you are tying on smaller hooks and
working with smaller material. Most midge hooks don't have much room for material so the actual
patterns are not that complicated to tie. Fortunately
in this class we will be tying on size 18 hooks (maybe 20).
However, if anyone want to brave a size 26 hook some will be
available.
In this class we will be tying four different patterns. The following are the
flies you will tie. Please note, you will need to
make certain to bring your 8/0 or smaller thread because a
few thread wraps can fill up these hooks fast.
