Synopsis of Class
|
You may not know it but even though we have snow on the ground
you can still get out this winter and catch bluegill (as
long as you don't have to drill a hole through the ice).
Bluegill, like many fish in the winter, continue to feed but
not nearly as often as they do during the warmer months.
There is still plenty of insect activity happening all
around your favorite bluegill hole and when needed these
panfish eat them. The real trick to blue gill fishing
in the winter months is two things, depth and speed.
Bluegill go to deeper waters in the winter where the water
is a little warmer. Also, since the water is colder
all insect and fish activity is slowed down. In the
warmer months you might want to "twitch' your flies to
entice a strike but in the winter months that will only turn
the fish off. Slow dead drifts and retrieves are the key.
In this class you will tie up six very
productive proven nymph patterns for catching winter
bluegill. Plus they are all quick flies to tie and fun
patterns to experiment with. You can tie up a half dozen of
these flies in about 30 minutes so you can easily tie up
enough to fill a fly box and not worry about loosing flies.
The flies you will tie in this class are,
