Synopsis of Class
|
Many people who fly fish around the Midwest do not realize
that you can use many of the same flies you catch trout with
for the warmwater species in your backyard. Now a #19 midge
might not be the best fly to catch a 18 smallmouth but if
you tie the same thing on a size six hook and fish it the
same way you probably will. The goal of this class on
Warmwater Nymphs is to show people how to think outside of
the box when it comes to trout nymphs and warmwater species.
Rex Phillips has been casting his flies on the waters
around the Midwest for years and is one of the most
innovative tiers around. Always looking for new materials or
how to combine materials for a new application, Rex always
has a new fly he is catching fish on. All of these patterns
Rex developed himself with the exceptions of Dave Whitlock's
pattern which is pretty much how Dave ties it. The others
are various nymph patterns that have been around but Rex
puts his own personal touch to them and catches fish all
around Indianapolis on these.
The flies we will tie in this class are,
