If you
are a tube fly tier or are interested in what tube flies are
all about now is the time to get started. The
Eumer
Tube Company has developed some of the hottest new tube fly
materials we've seen a while. From tubes, cones, heads
and fur there are some amazing flies being tied up.
On March 6th, Jerry Darkes will be in the shop demonstrating
the use of the Eumer Tube fly system as well as teaching a
Eumer Tube fly class for steelhead and warmwater species in
the afternoon. The class will be about 4 hours long and is a
great way learn tube fly tying.
Jerry Darkes is a fly tackle sales rep, instructor/guide,
and writer based in northern OH. He has over 4 decades of
fly fishing experience in both fresh and saltwater and is
recognized as an expert on Great Lakes steelhead and
warmwater fly fishing. He is also a member of the Scott Fly
Rod Pro Staff. Jerry was the first “fly fishing only” guide
on Ohio’s Lake Erie tributaries.

Darkes has been featured in several books and video/DVD
productions about Great Lakes fly fishing and has authored
numerous articles about the region. He is also a well-known
fly tyer and has created a series of Guide Patterns
instructional fly tying DVDs focusing on Great Lakes
steelhead and other gamefish.
Come if you want to learn what tube fly tying is all about
and stay if you want to take the class. The
class will start at 12:00pm and run about 4 hours.
The cost of the class is $35.00. All materials will be
provided. You will need to bring your vise, bobbin,
thread (black, olive and white 6/0), scissors, head cement
and a tube fly adapter.
Even if you do not tie your own flies, stop by to learn how
to fish tube flies. They are extremely versatile and
easy to fish. The best thing is they are very
productive. However, if you do attend the class you
can submit your Eumer tube fly to the Eumer company and
enter their
contest
to win great Eumer products including a Eumer Tube Vise!
