Summer is a great time for catching Smallies on the surface. There is nothing finer than slowly wading a warm stream in Indiana in the evening and throwing surface flies to smallies.  Watching them come up to the surface to hit flies always gets your blood moving. Early morning and late evening (and for the adventurous, at night) are great times for casting topwater flies to smallmouth bass.

 

There are hundreds of poppers, hair bugs, and foam flies that one can throw to smallies.  This class will focus on three productive flies.  Each uses closed celled foam and each has certain advantages over the others.  All are easy to tie and can be modified to you liking.
