What is a Tie-A-Thon? Simply
put, it is a marathon to tie flies that are donated
to a worthy cause. An event that combines the
love of fly tying and helping others.
We are proud to announce our first annual Tie-A-Thon
here at FlyMasters to help the
Reeling and Healing Midwest program.
Reeling & Healing Midwest is the only fully-licensed
national charitable organization offering
fly-fishing retreats for women with or surviving all
types of cancer, retreat programs for
men with cancer, and focusing on care givers
and survivors as well. They hold retreats throughout
the year for men and women on the Au Sable and the
Pere Marquette river in MIchigan.
Reeling and Healing Midwest is 100% donor-supported.
Which means they need many flies each year to help
out with their retreats. This is where all the
great customers of FlyMasters come in. You can
help by tying some flies to donate to this fine
program.
All day Saturday, January
23rd, we will be tying
flies to donate to Reeling and Healing Midwest.
You can stop by the shop for an hour or the whole
day. Bring your tools and materials and tie up
some goodwill. If you are uncertain as to what
pattern(s) to tie here are some suggestions.

These would all be good patterns for the waters they
fish. If you do not know how to tie these, no
problem. Come by and we will show you.
The entire day will be devoted to tying flies and
having fun. Plus, it is all free. We
will have beverages and snacks available to munch on
as well.
Since you can't do yard work and there is no snow to
shovel, come by and spend the day with us tying
flies for a good cause!
