April, towards the end of April, in the time the Hendrickson mayflies start to come off the water. It seems they have already started coming off on some of the waters of Michigan and possibly even here in Indiana. So, now is a great time to get your mallard flanks out, dun hackles, and muskrat and start tying up a few Hendricksons for the end of April trout opener.
If you love to fish dries for trout, the Hendrickson is a fly you should always have in your box on any outing.
