Fly Fishing Memories
The advent of Catch & Release in the past 50 years has had a huge impact on the fisheries across the country. However, the one downside is that most of us don't keep those "trophy" fish to hang on the wall anymore. Sure you can get a replica made but for the most part the attitude has just plan changed in terms of having some sort of memento to remember our fish by.
The good news is that in the past 10 years digital cameras have really come into their own and it is now easier than ever to get a good quality photo to place in an album or even have blown up and hung on the wall to help refresh the grey cells on our adventures. Literally, hundreds of photos can be taken in minutes when that fish of a life time decides to take your fly.
However, just like in days gone past, there were good and bad taxidermists… A quality photo to do honor to that great catch needs to go beyond the typical "grip and grin" shot. I have found over the past coupe of years the best way for me to learn about the composition of a great fish shot is to look at what other people are doing. Basically, take a look at what another photographer has done and try to copy it. There are a bunch of great resources across the Internet that have great photos for you to look at and learn from. Take a look at these sites to get started.
FocalFish, MidCurrent, The Itinerant Angler, Ten & Two Magazine, A Tight Loop Magazine, and Fontinalis Rising
These are not instructional sights. All they offer, for the most past, is great photos to inspire you to do the same.

From the Indiana DNR Wild Bulletin
——————————————————————————————– Indiana’s Muskie stocking program is off to a good start this year after DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife biologists collected a record-matching 1.9 million eggs from adult female Muskies at Lake Webster.
The eggs were fertilized with milt from male Muskies and will be used to produce approximately 24,000 fingerlings for stocking 15 Indiana lakes and reservoirs.
Warm temperatures forced biologists to start the egg-taking operation two weeks early.
“We normally begin trapping Muskies in Lake Webster around April 1, when the water temperature is 40 degrees,” said Jed Pearson, DNR fisheries biologist. “This year we had 60-degree water temperatures in mid-March.”

1.9 million eggs… hate to be the guy who had the job of counting all those eggs.
