Here in central Indiana we do a lot of warmwater fly fishing. I am always amazed at how many people come into the shop and asked "what do you fly fish for around here?" Fortunately, we have Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Muskie, Panfish, White Bass, Striped Bass, Hybrid Bass, Rock Bass, Catfish, Drum, Sauger, and Carp (to name a few) to fly fish for. But I am biased, I grew up in Indiana and learned to fly fish on the afore mentioned species and hold them in my memories with fond affection. To the point, William G. Tapply wrote a book a few years back called Trout Eyes. In this book he spoke of the history of bass fishing and the more modern "warmwater fishing". There is a wonderful excerpt from this book on MidCurrent. This is a great read if you are looking for a little background on the fishing you do around Indiana. Enjoy.
