Streamer Madness

Our good friend Dave Brown, who was just visiting with us and telling us and our customers great stories about the fabulous fishing in Fernie B. C., has just published a new video called streamer Madness. Here are some great shots of fish, waters, mountains and fisherman. We love watching people catch nice fish but I think the scenery wis almost more amazing to watch than the fish (almost).

Dave Brown Outfitters can set you up to be on the water, and possibly in the next video, catching some of these great fish. Gary here in the shop has another group going up in late August and we may be expanding it to two groups in 2014. Keep in touch and we'll get you up to Fernie for some memories that will never die.

Nice Job Dave!

Fish For Free Day

Free Fishing in IndianaEvery year the Indiana DNR host a Free Fishing Day. This is an event designed to get more people out onto the water and enjoy the great fishing that Indiana has to offer. Fortunately, they have expanded the number of days for 2013. This year there are four Free Fishing Days.

The first was just a week or so ago on April 20th. The next is on May 18th and then two days in June, the 1st and the 2nd. The big advantage to getting out and fishing on these days is that all Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish Indiana’s public waters.

This is a wonderful opportunity to take the kids and grand kids out for a day of fishing and maybe set a spark to a lifelong  endeavor. Indiana has some fantastic water for fishing. Check out the DNRs website for all the details.

And Their Off…

2013 Indiana Fishing RegulationsSince Indiana is not a big trout state the fact that this Saturday is the trout opener will probably go unrecognized by most Hoosier. We do have some trout and they actually do have a season opener which is always the last Saturday in April. For most states the trout season opener usually marks the official start of fishing "season". For us in Indiana the start of the White Bass run is usually the unofficial start of fishing season; which has already started.

2013 Michigan Fishing RegulationsHowever, other states around us, such as Michigan, do have formal season openers and thus a more recognized beginning of their season. Saturday April 27th in Michigan is the opening day for Lower Peninsula inland walleye, northern pike and muskellunge seasons; and the catch-and-immediate release seasons for largemouth and smallmouth bass in the Lower Peninsula as well as statewide trout season. Lucky for us most of those fish do not have a closed season in Indiana.

Click on either of the images to take a look at the regulations for Indiana and Michigan and let the games begin!
